Have you ever heard of it? I guess not. Located in between the pre Capathian Mountains it is surrounded by an overwhelming nature, esspecialy in autumn, when I visited Buchach for an Erasmus+ financed programme.

The soil in this area is excellent, which is maybe one reason for the wonderfull coulourful forest which surrounds the town that is placed on and between a few hills.

In the middle of the town's center you can find a slow river where people do their fishing. The city, which is habitat by round about 20.000 people nowadays. It has so much history and significance for history, that it really is a very unique place, where you can find huge jewish cementuries, that are not in good conditions but turn the town into a mythic place. Since the town's history was first mentioned in the 13th century, it was Polish, Ukrainian, part of Sowjet Union, invaded by the Nazis and a jewish ghetto.

We, from the Erasmus group investigated infastructure, architecture and other things in the sociaty to explain how the city and its habitors transformed over the time

For me it was a difficult task because the language, which was spoken during the programme was half Russian and half English and the spoken language of the inhabitors is only Russian and Ukrainian. It was difficult for me to do the researches well. My researches where about selvsufficiant gardening and how it changed during the time of the Sovjet Union and after. At least I had a young russian translater who helped me researching about transformations in selvsufficiant gardening over the time.

But because she had to do her own researches I had to find habitors who could speak German or English. The only place I found was the local school, where I could talk with the German and English teacher, but they didn't really had much to say, also because their language knowlegde was not at the best level. Afterall I found out, that actually nothing really changed in the aspect of selvsufficiant gardening over the time, because people where and are still dependent on their gardens to survive, even in the city. This was not diffrent in Sowjet Union. Only the rich people or the institutions use their gardens for showing their status, some memorials or to have a place to relax.

At the end we had to make a presentation in the town's library. It was the first time, that anybody has done this work in this city, therefore we all felt  very important. We had the priveledge to see such a unique and hidden town, its cognac fabrik and the old castel on of the town's hill.

I would be very happy to make this town a little bit more popular, as I fell in love with my translater during my stay in Buchach. Here is a wiki link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buchach#Unknown_nationality
