What is it like to live in Surat? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It is the 2nd cleanest city in India. The weather is neither hot nor too cold. The people here are friendly. Crime rates are very low. Close to Metropolitan cities like Mumbai and Ahmadabad.

What is the student lifestyle like in Surat?

The Universities here are good for studying businesses. Don't come here for Engineering until you are landing in NIT Surat. Pretty good places to eat around. Its the food junction in west India. People say, to eat is Surat and to die is Kashi (Spiritual Signifacance).

How much does it cost to live in Surat?

Very less. You can Survive a month with 250 dollars easily with leisure activities.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Surat? Is there any advice you can give?

To find accommodation is not difficult. Try finding a student in the college you are getting admitted to and seek help.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Anyone from outside would love eating in Surat. It is a highly developed city of India and one can find all kinds of cuisines available. If you want to try something local, I would ask you to try Locho, Surat is known for this.

What places would you recommend visiting in Surat?

Surat has two beaches named Dumas and Suvali. Apart from these there is a nearby hill-station called Wilson Hills. There is a public Aquarium and the city has plenty of parks and gardens everywhere.

Is it good to eat out in Surat? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, it is safe to eat anywhere. You just need to keep your eyes open before choosing an unhygienic street vendor. I'm not saying that street vendors are bad but don't go to someone who has no customers eating along with you.

Is the nightlife good in Surat? Where is good to go?

Drinking is prohibited in entire Gujarat. You would not find bars or clubs in the city. But there are many night events to enjoy the sober way.

What advice would you give future students heading to Surat?

Its a good place to enjoy with less restrictions depending on the kind of lifestyle you want.
