What is it like to live in Sunderland? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I'm from Newcastle myself but Suderland isn't bad once you get used to it. To me it's the people who make the place and the people and students of Sunderland are brilliant. The University is one of the cheapest in the country and personally I love the place. I have amazing friends with a brilliant support staff and it's great for a night out.

What is the student lifestyle like in Sunderland?

Extremely studenty...There is a bar for everyone and on Wednesday nights they are at their cheapest and the town turns into student central.

How much does it cost to live in Sunderland?

One of the cheapest places in the country though it all depends what you go after really

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Sunderland? Is there any advice you can give?

Not necessarily but just make sure you keep your eye open, ask around for recommended landlords because a lot of students get ripped off and have hassle throughout the student housing so ask around about who has been really decent.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Whetherspoons!!! It's the best place ever. It's your typical Pub grub with cheaper booze and a wonderful atmosphere. And on a Friday night the place turns into a bit of a club playing all the oldies music.

What places would you recommend visiting in Sunderland?

There isn't really anywhere to visit. Though the museum is nice as well as the park next to said museum

Is it good to eat out in Sunderland? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

My favourite is Whetherspoons.

Is the nightlife good in Sunderland? Where is good to go?

Amazing if you're a student on a Wednesday or Friday night. Gatsbys and Underground are the norm. And then there is one other place (Cant remember the name!!) but it's amazing for three floors of different styles of music and cheaper booze.

What advice would you give future students heading to Sunderland?

Just have fun and make as many friends as possible because it really is the people who make the place.
