Experience in University of Stellenbosch, South Africa by shirmone
Generally, what is University of Stellenbosch like?
Studying at Stellenbosch University is an amazing experience. You are immersed in both a rich culture and a student community.
What are the facilities like?
The best athletes in South Africa use the sport facilities. The library and study halls are really great and numerous so there is no excuse to not excel.
What are the tutors like?
Tutors have a very pro active attitude and are willing to help at all times. Most tutors are well studied and don't just give you an answer sheet unless you try hard first.
Are the lessons easy in University of Stellenbosch?
Some are easy. First year subjects are easier but the level is quite steep from second year onwards.
Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?
Yes all students have to be apart of a student committee or society. Stellenbosch students have a great sense of community whilst studying. Social events are common but volunteer work is organised too.
Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?
Yes in the Science Faculty the standard is high. I cant comment on other faculties.
Are there any stories you can share?
I just love the everyday life in "stellies". Going to the Neelisie (student cafeteria), meeting friends at the local pubs (Bohemia and Mystic Boer), having the freedom of walking anywhere within 15 minutes, the warm weather and beautiful nature. You get a sense of life and education.
