Scandinavian novels

I have been speaking of Stieg Larsson while talking about crime novels because he is the most famous icon of the Swedish novel, and I wanted you to have an idea about what this concept means. However, it is true that he is not the only one and either the best. The Scandinavian crime novels (there are also important writers in Norway or Denmark) are a kind of literature which is very popular and successful nowadays. The most interesting point of these novels, in addition to the mystery and suspense, is that they are a complete portrait of the contemporary society and, somehow they are also a true sociological study. This point explains why the genre has gained such a big importance in recent years and why it fits so well with current readers. Forexample, the Madrid Book Fair of 2010 was devoted to Scandinavian thriller.
