Experience in Singapore Management University, Singapore by Gerald

Generally, what is Singapore Management University like?

I am not too sure about what school is like for an exchange student. But speaking from a local perspective, school is really fun with the right group of friends. Let's be honest, when you go for exchange, 70% of the time your mind won't be on the books and Singapore is great for that!

Singapore Management University (SMU) is located in the city centre of Singapore, so that makes it really convenient for activities like shopping/movies/just walking around. There are 2 museums just beside SMU (Singapore Art Museum and the National Museum of Singapore).

There are many bars and eating places around SMU as well.

What are the facilities like?

SMU is a relatively new school (11 years old) so the facilities are pretty modern. You might not be used to the school as everything looks like an office building, I think that makes it really bleak, I much prefer the universities here in Europe.

Other than the architecture, the other facilities are great. The gym is new and well maintained, we have a swimming pool, class rooms and seminar rooms are comfortable and cozy. We also have a lot of studying spaces for students to use where you have a table and 5 or 6 chairs for those group meetings!
