What is it like to live in São Carlos? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
São Carlos is the country city for students to live. There are about 230,000 people living there, and about 30,000 of then are students!
What is the student lifestyle like in São Carlos?
There are all kind of students there, the ones that like to party every day and do it, the ones that just like to enjoy a good meal and those for study.
How much does it cost to live in São Carlos?
There are vey cheap places to have a meal, about R$10 that are about 3.5 euro. Renting a place is a bit expensive (about 250 euro), is better living in a student house (about 200 euro), is cheaper and funnier!
Is it difficult to find accommodation in São Carlos? Is there any advice you can give?
Not at all, there are aways people going in and out of São Carlos. So its easy finding a good place to live. If I could give any piece o advice I would tell you to live near USP, because all the parties, activites and restaurants are near by.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
The food is typical from Brazil, rice beans and some meat. As it is an university city there are several places for eating well and cheap.
What places would you recommend visiting in São Carlos?
There is the biggest airplane museum hosted by an airplane company, TAM Museum. There is the planetary too, it's inside USP and of easy access.
Is it good to eat out in São Carlos? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Yes! There is Quase 2 Lanches, Kallas, Panela, and Bandeijão (student meals for R$1,90 - 0.6 euro)
Is the nightlife good in São Carlos? Where is good to go?
Very nice! Party every day!
What advice would you give future students heading to São Carlos?
Choose living in São Carlos rather than other cityis country side. And if you can choose whats University choose USP, the campus is in the center of the city and everything happens arround it.
