Where can you take a swim in winter?

So, everyone who is coming to spend their Erasmus in Granada will hear about the hot springs of Santa Fe. In all honesty, there's no point in searching for it online, as you will not be able to find any information about where they are located. The only way to find them is to go there with someone who already knows where they are.

I can tell you that a lot of people go there and that word of mouth works very well as a way of finding this place. The springs are situated in the middle of olive trees in a private field where loads of hippies live. It's located about 30 minutes from Granada, in the direction of Santa Fe on the road from the airport.

Do not expect huge lakes, instead it's more like a river that has formed two or three pools of hot water, hot enough to enjoy on a typical winter's day. Don't be shocked, most people bath naked. I went twice in total during the year I spent there. The first time I found it great! Although take note, the planes do fly overhead quite frequently. But the second time was something else... Many festivals are often organized around hot springs, such as Rave Parties, and even if at first sight it seems good, the people who come vandalise and trash the area. So, the second time around, I found myself surrounded by rubbish and filth for rest of the evening which was a bit disappointing.

Among other things, a very small festival is organized in March, you can follow the events on Facebook.

I still think that this place is worth a visit, it is very close to Grenada and you do not necessarily have the opportunity to bathe in natural hot springs every day. :)
