By living in Santa Cruz you get to experience different lifestyles all combined in one city. You can come and go hiking, learn about history, etc. And you can also enjoy the nightlife and have a more lavishly trip.

What is the student lifestyle like in Santa Cruz?

Cruceños (the people from Santa Cruz) are one of the kindest in Bolivia, we all make foreigners feel more than welcome here, and it’s a great place to get to know a lot of people. All the students that come here go back to their hometown in love with Santa Cruz.

How much does it cost to live in Santa Cruz?

It is not that expensive compared with the Latin American countries. Food is really cheap as well as housing and going out and having fun is also really cheap.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Santa Cruz? Is there any advice you can give?

It is not difficult to find a good place to stay here in Santa Cruz, you can stay at a family house or rent an apartment as well. If you’re planning or renting an apartment the ideal place would be the city center or up north.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is delicious. Here my favorite dishes are salteñas, majadito, cuñape and sonso, but overall Bolivian food is great.

What places would you recommend visiting in Santa Cruz?

There are different places to visit. Some of them that I think are worth it are the towns that are near the city like Samaipata and Buena Vista, where you can find a lot of different activities and learn about culture a bit more.

Is the nightlife good in Santa Cruz? Where is good to go?

The nightlife is really good in Santa Cruz, you can definitely find all the nightclubs at the city center and at square which is the place where friends meet up to decide where to go and have fun. There is also a lot of different parties and events organized by seniors at schools or freshmen and sophomores at universities.

What advice would you give future students heading to Santa Cruz?

To come here with no expectations, no judgments, no preconceptions and just let the margin of Santa Cruz get into your veins and into your heart. I promise it’s going to be an experience you won’t forget.
