Casa Nelson

Casa Nelson is a Cuban Restaurant in Tenerife’s capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife. I’ve been there with another girl because a colleague recommended us the place at work and we wanted to try it. It’s a very small house next to Plaza de Europa and in front of the Art Place TEA, and if we hadn’t looked for it on actively, we wouldn’t have found it, I guess – it’s just looking like a normal house.

But we found it, and were lucky, because it’s only opened from 12-17:30 each day (except Monday). It’s decorated with so much charme and there’s an extraordinary atmosphere inside – all four walls are covered by newspaper articles, pictures, postcards, paintings and other particular things but it really fits. It doesn’t look messy or something, I just liked it!

The menu is small, but offers a large variety of different dishes. You have to order by writing down the dishes you want to have and there’s no electronic cashier in there. It’s all made by writing it down on that paper.

So if you look for a restaurant with a lot of atmosphere and love and very good food, try Casa Nelson! The owner is so nice and recommends things if you are not sure about what to order. They also offer parties in the evening to celebrate your birthday, your divorce or the loss of your job! And if you liked your stay a lot you can design a paper with your name and the things you loved about Casa Nelson and can become part of the wall and stay there forever. It’s like a guestbook at the wall.
