How to feel on top of the world

Published by flag-md Janna Cropotova — 7 years ago

I was especially impressed by the deepness and perpetuity of Italian mountains (called the Apennines) and …the sea (named Adriatic Sea)!

Both of them may create a special mood and state of the soul when you don’t see horizon between these two worlds: the sky and the earth, the reality or your imagination… fantasy…

By discovering new places, first of all people are discovering themselves. I think it is just impossible to remain indifferent to the greatness and splendor of medieval heritage, especially if we are talking about old castles.

I saw a big number of various castles in Europe, but only in San Marino I really felt the whole majesty of these stone masterpieces.

I decided to discover the heart of San Marino with a hike along the ridge of Mount Titano. I started my path from a bus station in the center of the city.

I was not in a hurry, enjoying the weather and the sights of San Marino; therefore it took me about three hours to reach the highest point of the rock, while visiting all three towers that San Marino may boast of.

On the highest point there was a little square belonging to the middle of the three towers, Castello della Cesta. From this place I was watching the splendid surroundings of San Marino: small houses in the down town, green hills and even a coast line where horizon is reaching the sky.

I even recognized Rimini when I saw its famous skyscraper! I was not afraid of staying on the rock and watching the sights of San Marino and partially of the region Emilia-Romagna… at that time I was feeling like a bird flying above rush people.

Only the wind was blowing strongly, making me fell a little bit uncomfortable. But at the same time it offered me a feeling of the total freedom, when one understands that in order to be free the only thing to do is to embrace the sky!

On my way coming back to the bus station, I was walking along the forest thickets and tiny lost footpaths, followed by the winding cobblestone streets of this mountain city, walled in many-many years ago.
