What is it like to live in San Gwann? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

San Gwann is ideal for student accommodation as it is within walking distance to the University, as well as close to English Language Schools and hospital for the medical students. You can be in Valletta, Sliema, St Julians, Paceville, and beaches within a few minutes as it has an excellent bus service. One can also find good supermarkets such as Lidl, shops, doctor's clinics, dentists and other suppliers within walking distance. It is a modern town with a cosmopolitan feel and yet 'old-world' as the local people are very friendly and welcoming.

What is the student lifestyle like in San Gwann?

Student lifestyle is easy and relaxed - you can go to the local boutiques, bars, and just chill out. Students can:

  2. Cycle
  3. around the island in cooler weather,

Whilst in the summer months you can enjoy:

  1. The beaches
  2. Surfing
  3. Water-sports
  4. Open air bbqs every evening

How much does it cost to live in San Gwann?

San Gwann is cheaper than living in tourist zones as shop prices are for local people. It is also cheap because most places are accessible on foot or by bus.

If you are coming to study for a long period, plan ahead. August is the best time to book your apartment as by September the best apartments are all booked ahead.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is lovely, fresh produce is sold from street vendors around San Gwann or from local supermarkets.

Is it good to eat out in San Gwann? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

  1. Coral is great for meeting up with friends on the high street -very clean and a lovely choice of local dishes such as ravioli or lasagna.
  2. Champ and Maxims for local take away pastizzi- a meal in a bag for less than 1 Euro. /li>
  3. Or call in a Maypole for fresh bread and delicacies.

Is the nightlife good in San Gwann? Where is good to go?

There are a number of bars and pizzeria, though most young people go to Paceville, the nightclub area, which is 10 - 15 minutes away on foot.

What advice would you give future students heading to San Gwann?

  1. Ask around
  2. look at website
  3. enjoy yourselves without annoying others

You will be able to make friends with locals and other students if you make an effort. San Gwann is a great place for students to stay.
