A student's experience during an internship in Malta
Malta
Former British colony and independent since 1964, the island Malta has been part of the European Union since 2004. Good news for those who wish to study in English whilst benefiting from a nice Mediterranean climate. In Malta, there are two main languages, Maltese and English, so you don't need to go to rainy London to be able to learn English, as you can also learn English in a country with an extraordinary climate, cities and paradisical landscapes! There are a number of options for accommodation in Malta, even with a student budget (hotels, youth hostels, residences, apartments, house-shares, host families). Don't panic, Maltese people are known for being warm and welcoming.
Living abroad
Studying abroad is a project which is both incredibly passionate and interesting on a personal level as on a professional level. Studying abroad is the guarantee of speaking a second language and proving to everyone your cultural openness. There is no lack of opportunities in the job market, so students who go and study abroad almost always pass the entry exams in the best Grande Ecoles (highly selective French higher education establishments). Totally independent, you don't need your parents, you are going to become mature, responsible and organised; you are your own boss, you can live at your own pace (cooking, housework, your habits, doing your own shopping). You can equally plan trips during your free times, as you are on average 30 minutes away from wherever you want to go, it is a small island and everything is close by.
The internship
Thanks to the internship in Malta, I was able to improve my English, The Maltese people are very welcoming and smiling, they are always there in the case you need them. They are helpful and sociable, it is easy to settle into the companies. You will also be able to discover a new culture. An internship abroad allows you to have good professional experience to put on your CV. This will give you extra experience in the world of work and you can get a first glimpse into what the world of work is like.
