28 year old female, looking for affordable accommodation in Reykjavik

Hello!

I am a 28 year old researcher who will be joining the University of Iceland as a postdoctoral fellow in April 2018 for a minimum period of 12 months. I am looking for an affordable accommodation in Reykjavik, preferably close to the University. I have travelled reasonably well and have taken part in several field works, so I find it interesting to make friends with people of different backgrounds. I am very sociable, but keep to myself from time-to-time. Therefore, I respect the privacy of others too. I do not have pets, but I do not have problems with my flatmate having one (as long as they aren't exotic!!! ;) ).

As a full-time employee, I will be spending a lot of my time at the university. However, my other interests include, books, music, and painting. I will be learning icelandic at the University to better involve in the country's culture. As an Earth Scientist, Iceland is Paradise to me! Therefore, I would love to explore the science, the culture, and the natural splendour this country can offer! So it would be great to find a suitable, affordable accommodation to do so, and like-minded people to share the experience with!
