The Galapagos Island belong to Ecuador and are one of the most untouched and preserved places in the world.

As 99% of the underwater world around the Galápagos islands are protected, you are not allowed to go snorkeling a lot further out of the coast by yourself. So if you want to get most out of your underwater experience and see a lot of different sea creatures you have to book a tour with a licensed tour guide.

The water in the Galápagos Islands has the most incredible color, it is light turquoise and even if it is deep you can sometimes see until the bottom of the ocean. Of course it also has this super nice and warm temperature that you can just go snorkeling in your bikini or swim shorts.
The underwater world around the island is truly incredible: colorful corals and fish, turtles, rays, etc. You will be able to see a lot of animals from up close and it is not unusual that a seal or a penguin suddenly is swimming next to you.
The surprising thing about the animals of Galápagos is that they absolutely don't seem to be minding the tourists, they just swim or sit next to you as if you were not there.
If you are licensed for diving or want to take a class the Galápagos islands are definitely THE place to be! Going out further with the boat and taking a dive will allow you to meet sharks, manta rays, hammerheads and if your are there in the right time even whale sharks!
