Why did you choose to go to Porvoo, Finland?

Due to the rumours, that the education is great there, which it is.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My scholarship was 500euro per month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Porvoo?

It's acctually busy. They organise things, attend everywhere they can and also party a lot.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Porvoo to other students?

I definitely recommend the university, however, I'm not so sure about the town. It's too small for me, though it's nice.

What is the food like?

Food is good and tasty.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Porvoo?

I was staying in students' dormitory so the rent was the only expenses I had concerning the accomodation.

How much does it cost to live in Porvoo?

I don't really remember, it was 2 years ago. Although, it may be quite expensive when you think about trips and parties.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

There may be some problems because not everybody speaks English like elder people in supermarkets etc. But one can take Finnish course at the university and get some credits too.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Porvoo from your city?

Get on the plain, land in Helsinki and take the bus to Porvoo or somebody pics you up from the airport.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Porvoo?

There are some small nightclubs and nice cafes.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Porvoo?

That nice place on boat... I don't remember the name.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The Old Town is kinda nice. All in all I suggest to go to the tourist info centre and you'll find some good brochures.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Porvoo in the future?

Grab any opportunity to go out not only partying but also go to the events that there are organized at the university and so on, and meet not only other exchange students but also find some local friends. Life is much more fun then!
