Gate to the world
Ports of Ponta Delgada located in the parish of St. Sebastian (formerly Matrix), the city and municipality of Ponta Delgada on the island of São Miguel, Azores.
"Ex libris" of the city, these doors are a symbol of early land defense of the city on the southwestern coast of the island.
Were erected in 1783, originally opened in the walls of this sector.
With the start of work on the opening of Avenida Infante D. Henrique (Avenida Litoral) (1948), were apeadas and again erected in the Plaza de Gonçalo Velho (1952) center.
