Experience in Pistoia, Italy, by Claudia
What is it like to live in Pistoia? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
The city is a kind of medieval town, with many ancient places, little squares and lots of important and nice churches. Close to the Dome Square there is a very typical meeting point - Piazza della Sala - for people to spend the week-end, with lots of nice bars and restaurants where you can have good food for a moderate price, or just a drink. But most of the time, young people take the aperitif here, which is quite fashionable and convenient!
What is student life like?
Usually, Pistoia is not known for being a city for students, since there are only one or two university faculties.
How much does it cost to live in Pistoia?
Compared to Florence not a lot, but, for example, I don't know much about the rents.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in this town? Is there any advice you can give?
I don't know.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Great food - like pizza and ice cream - almost everywhere. However, the town is also well-known for the meat, especially steak and other traditional dishes that you can find easily.
What places would you recommend visiting in Pistoia?
Piazza San Francesco, also known as Piazza Mazzini, the Dome Square and, for the night life, Piazza della Sala.
