Drawing Abroad
I was inspired by the bohemian atmosphere of Italy and the jolly nature its people.
My feeling was a peculiar one, firstly being in a new picture that was completely unknown, there was the enthusiasm of finding a good place for drawing. I prepared my “drawing kit” from home, being convinced I’d catch a lot of inspiration and I’d have a good working hand.
It’s not easy to start a drawing, to give form to an imaginary line you start to draw on the paper. So I visited the botanical garden known as "Orto Botanico di Pisa". That happened in March, true that there were almost no flowers blooming, that was irrelevant. It was the impact with nature, the beauty and diversity were key elements that I can say fueled my imagination to create art.
I’d have to admit that, as an artist I observed the shape of every object around me and I’ve tried to get used to the artistic part of the place, then stepping into reality I’ve begun, my second semester as a student at the University of Pisa at the Faculty of History.
Advice: you can always go to the botanical garden as a student, it’s free and worth going even for a break in nature.
And as every tourist objective it has a shop filled with accessories and various souvenirs. (Good indeed! )
What caught my attention? A card painted in an artistic manner – which I always acquired – with flowers that hold the meaning of my name (crocus vernus).
