Hello everybody,
I'm a Swedish student coming down to Piraeus this fall (2011) through Erasmus.
Right now I'm wondering the following things:
Do I want to live in Piraeus or do I want to live in Athens?
What are some of the best ways to find accomodation for say, 6 months? I was thinking that if I want to learn some Greek it could be good to live with some Greeks... ;)

about the accomondation,its up to you!i know you dont like this answer,but its up to you,to decide where you want to live..
Athens and Piraeus are really close...30min by train..and there are buses too,from piraeus,to sintagma(central place),
If you want to go everyday on university,so to eat on the uni's restaurant(its not "restaurant",dont get excited!),and go on the courses,piraues is good choice..
If you mostly want to have fun on athens,so to be near the center,better find a place like exarchia,where the rent fee is good..and you are near the center..
Generally the rent fee is small in athens,especially if you share an appartment with others..
About the way to find,i really cant help,cause i never needed to search for home,i was living here..
Better talk with erasmus people,living there!find them on Facebook,on related groups..im sure they can help you more..

About social activities,there are some organisations,like esn and athensmus,that organise parties and trips,for erasmus students,so dont worry!
About troupe,yes...there is!dont know how easy would be,without knowing the language,but you can ask,

Generally,for info about athens,find places etc,look on the thread of athens!i think there are many people searching-giving help..
