Master student looking for colocation

Bonjour,
I am moving to for my one year master in History and Philosophy of Art and looking for accommodation for at least 1 month (3 months is perfect, more is excellent). I could not find something affordable, therefore I am looking for colocation opportunities.
My university (University of Kent - Paris Campus) is in the Reid Hall/6th arrondissement. Luckily, I realized that it is an expensive area B-), so I am looking for a place which I can go to school by metro from it. I have fully funded scholarship but cannot afford high rents.
I am also open for you suggestions about finding a place and how to survive in this city. (Especially I would like to know about French guarantor system. Do I need that for colocation?)
