Paris: a whole city to discover

Paris

In the following article I would like to talk about the city where I've been living for about six years. Thanks to my mother's willpower and courage, today I have the opportunity to live in the city of my dreams.

This is the city where everyone dreams of visiting at least once in their life. Which city am I talking about? The city of art, culture and love: Paris.

Initially it was difficult to find accommodation in Paris. But we were lucky, we['d decided to look for a house in the suburbs. After a lot of research, we found a house in the district of Champs sur Marne, and then we moved to have more space and comfort in the town of Melun.

This is the so-called 77, in the suburbs of Paris. But I must confess that it's not so dangerous as everyone describes it. My family and I are content living here.

Our current accommodation is about 30 minutes from Paris if you take the RER. As you can imagine, given the short distance, I'm often in the centre. Also because I can't be so far away from the Eiffel Tower!

I admit that, after six years here, I still haven't seen everything. The city of Paris is rich in art and culture, it's like an open-air museum. And it's precisely this wealth that strikes more and more each day. It is a city with an infinite cultural heritage. You can't say that you've seen it all. After six years, I keep discovering something different every time, something completely new.

This city has changed me. It has changed me in a positive sense. It's made me more open and social as a person. Every time I take the RER or metro, I feel inspired. I want to write about everything that I'm seeing. I've fallen in love with this city, perhaps due to the fact that I've seen it in every season. And I'm moved by each one. It's a gloomy city in the autumn and winter, and pleasant in the spring and summer. In this city there are truly so many things to do, that I wouldn't know where to start. In this article I'll try to list the places to visit, and in the next articles I'll tell you the story and my feelings when visiting them.

What to visit

  • La Defense, the new and industrial district;
  • The “Père Lachaise” cemetery where you can find tombs of important people such as: oscar Wilde, Edith Piaf and Marcel Proust;
  • A stroll through the Pantheon, looking for the tombs of Madame Curie, Alexandre Dumas or Victor Hugo.
  • The Cemetery of Montmatre, to see the tomb of Dalida, and in the Cemetery of Montparnasse there's the tombs of Serge Gainsbourg and Charles Baudelaire.
