Palais Garnier
I want to tell you about one of my favorite places- Palais Garnier (Opera Garnier), which is located in the heart of Paris. If you want to go to Paris, I think you won’t miss this breathtaking place. This is one of the most visited building in Paris. When I first saw ‘’The Phantom of the Opera’’, I made a decision that I would go this stunning place, where it took. The phantom of the Opera is a fantasy novel written by Gaston Leroux. Action takes place in the Opera Garnier. This Novel is very mysterious and when you enter this place, you're immediately struck by an aura of mystery. If you're lover of the Phantom of the Opera, you must go to see this architectural Treasures.
This place is very easy to find in Paris. You can use metro, RER line, train, bus and taxi to get to Palais Garnier. One metro station is named after ‘’Opera’’, then you need 2 minutes to walk to get it. There is no doubt this is one of the beautiful buildings in Paris. You can see golden statues in exterior. There are statues of Beethoven, Mozart, Greek gods and others
You can buy tickets online or at the place. I paid 8 Euro, I have discount due to being a student. Adult tickets cost 12 euro. For children and Students who are studing architecture and art this place is free.
The idea of building Palais garnier, comes from Napoleon III. But unfortunately he would never get to enjoy. Opera’s architect Charles Garnier built in 1861-187. In 1860, A competition was held to select architect who would build the new opera house. There are combined Baroque and Reneissance Architecture. It has grand staircases, grand foyer, museum and auditorium. Auditiroium has 1,900 seats and grand chandelier. This chandelier is memorable in Phantom of the opera, when it is falling onto the audience. The Chandelier’s artwork belongs to the artist Marc Chagall
. My favourite place there is grand foyer. It is 154 meters long and you can see drawing fascinating walls. Ceiling and chandelier is glitter and gorgeous. When I saw this Foyer, I remembered Hall of Mirrors at the Versailles. Because in both there are luxury, gold, mirrors and glitters.
