Experience in Paphos, Cyprus by Veronika
What is it like to live in Paphos? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Paphos is a very small city situated on the west Cyprus. It's a quiet place where you can relax. It has nice beaches and some good cafes and restaurants. It's more suitable for tourists and families, as it is calm, safe with friendly people and everything is near if you have a car(which is actually needed if you plan to stay for long time).
What is the student lifestyle like in Paphos?
There isn't much of student life in Paphos, because it's a small town with not many entertainment spots. The university is small and new so they don't organise often something for students like partys.
How much does it cost to live in Paphos?
The cost of living is moderate. It is like in other european countries. You can spend 5-10 euros for fast food and 15-and more in restaurants per person. In my opinion it's more economic if you cook at home.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Paphos? Is there any advice you can give?
The only problem I can think on finding accomodation, is actually the area in which you have to look. Paphos is small but there is a lack of public transport so it would be difficult if you will live far from the sea. I would recomend looking in Kato Paphos, Universal area, Tomps of the Kings or Geroskipu.
What advice would you give future students heading to Paphos?
Don't be very nervous about this place if you are coming to study because it's a relaxing town with friendly and helpfull people who speak english. If you want somewhere where you can relax, be safe while you walk around and learn about a new culture then you might like Paphos.
