Erasmus Experience in Paola, Malta by Zanda
Why did you choose to go to Paola, Malta?
For people who love history, amazing people and beautiful nature - this is the place!
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
I am in working in Malta for 3 months, having 400 eur stipend from Erasmus, which for Malta is 100% not enough, living is quite expensive.
What is the student lifestyle like in Paola?
Not too much going on here. Paola is not a centered place, all the entertainment in Malta happens either in Valletta or Paceville, but since Malta is a relitevly small country, everything is very close, so even living in Paola, you can reach everything that you need. Living in Malta doesn't feel like a country, feels like a big city with lots of tiny villages. Amazing!
Would you recommend the city and the University of Paola to other students?
I would reccomend Malta and University of Malta, it is very good. I am working in Malta College of Arts, Science and Techology..wouldn't recommend that!
What is the food like?
The food is very good! Traditional pastizzi you can find on every corner for only 30 cents, restaurants are very cozy and people very helping.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Paola?
Again saying that nothing is far from anything, I live right next to Paola, in Birgu and accomodation cost 200 eur per month, in Paola it is a bit more expensive, getting closer to Paceville prices go even higher up. Should start looking for accomodation on time, places get booked quickly!
How much does it cost to live in Paola?
Food is quite expensive in my opinion, but not too much, 500 eur stipend a month should be enough!
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Everyone speaks English! There are also Maltease language courses, but since everything is in English there is no need for it.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Paola from your city?
Buses! They go as they wish but they go often.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Paola?
I wouldn't. Go to Paceville!
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Malta is a great cultural site in general. Feels like you are living in a history book! Mdina, the old capital is beautiful, and you have to try the cafe Fontanella, they have the best cakes in Malta, enjoy! :)

I've been to Malta about three weeks ago and loved it. I'm looking to move there for work by this month in August or September. I'm also looking for accommodation, can you please help?
