Why did you choose to go to Oviedo, Spain?
Well, first, it was the scholarship, but I have always been attracted to the North of Spain for its Celtic heritage and its history that is amazing.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
I got 1000 euros per month and it was for 12 months. So, it's more than enough for Spain, especially Oviedo.
What is the student lifestyle like in Oviedo?
It depends on the personality. So, if you like parties, there are always some, so, you can just join AEGEE Oviedo: The guys are fantastic at organizing trips and parties and tours.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Oviedo to other students?
Yes, of course.
What is the food like?
I'm vegan, so I was going to the Indian restaurants most of the time. The traditional fabada, everyone says it's worth trying, most of the dishes are either seafood or something with meat. There are restaurants everywhere: it's easy to find food according to your taste, especially if you do not mind meat. Gascona is the place for cider and beer, it's especially busy at nighttime.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Oviedo?
If you have any difficulties, the university can help you, but for me, it was not that difficult. Websites like Gabinohome or Rightmove.
How much does it cost to live in Oviedo?
From 700-800 euro per month is more than enough, the food is really cheap.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
They have Casa de Lenguas in Milan Campus, so you can take language courses.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Oviedo from your city?
There is an airport in Oviedo, but international flights are either through Madrid or Barcelona, then you can take a bus directly from the airport in Oviedo and Alsa buses will take you to the city center.
Where would you recommend going on a night out in Oviedo?
There are a lot of places especially near the Cathedral area and Gascona.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Oviedo?
Tierraastur (In Gascona).
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
The nearby towns; the North is rich in cultural heritage, there are museums in Oviedo, the Archaeological museum, history museum, the cathedral of San Salvador and Naranco Hill.
