Why did you choose to go to Oviedo, Spain?

It is a wonderful city surrounded by mountains and natural landscapes. The city is also lovely, people are very helpful. In addition, I wanted to stay in a city different from Malta with more greenery and open spaces.

How long was the scholarship? How much money did you receive to help you with living costs?

The scholarship lasted five months for a whole semester

What is the student lifestyle like in Oviedo?

There were the bars and most of the restaurants in the city in "Calle Gascona. " Besides, there are various shopping malls in the city.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Oviedo to other students?

Yes, the city is wonderful and the university is a very hands-on and continuous during the year.

What is the food like?

There are a lot of typical dishes mostly containing seafood, serrano ham, many milk products like cheeses, a typical dish with garbanzo beans. However, you will also find typical Spainish dishes like paella, chorizo, etc. and cider which is a typical drink in Oviedo.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Oviedo?

We had to contact a lot of people till we found an available apartment. Thus, I would recommend to start searching for an apartment beforehand, so that you could settle in.

How much does it cost to live in Oviedo?

My apartment costs 265 euros monthly with wifi and with electricity and water bills included.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The majority of spaniards in Oviedo do not have a good level of English, thus it might be hard to get around if you do not speak Spanish. However, the university has a lot of different language courses.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Oviedo from your city?

We mostly walk although there is a bus service which is quite frequent and punctual. It costs €1.05 every trip.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Oviedo?

"Calle Gascona", where most of the bars and restaurants are situated. However, there are various restaurants all over the city especially near the cathedral.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The cultural sites are mostly religious and historical. You can search online for the historical sites.
