My study experience at the University of Ostrava on the Erasmus+ program

I went to the Erasmus+ program in Ostrava without any hopes or expectations, but I got an incredible experience of student life and I highly recommend it to others who are still hesitating.

I have not had the opportunity to study in a school or student environment since the end of high school, and I am very glad that such an opportunity arose here. You don't have to worry about the amount of the scholarship - Ostrava is not an expensive city with a very convenient public transport system and the student dormitory was very affordable as well. Half of the dormitory guards didn't speak English, but we were able to find a common language. If I had any problems with my room (for example, I accidentally closed the door and forgot the key inside), they helped me quickly. You will have enough money for travel, shopping, medicine and any events organized by the student government in the city and beyond. For example, together with a group of students and a guide from ESN, we went hiking in the Czech mountains twice.

I had wonderful activities among foreign and local students, active recreation, as well as additional lectures about the peculiarities of people's lives in Europe. It was very interesting and useful. The learning process was also good. Despite the fact that the lectures are in English, it was not difficult for me and I actively participated in class discussions. I believe that participation in the Erasmus+ program is a great opportunity to feel like an international student in a European country for everyone, regardless of your financial situation. This program provides an opportunity to try new things, test your skills and get motivated for further quality education.

My Czech teachers and the coordinator from the international department were very polite to me and quickly resolved any issues. I am very grateful for such promptness, understanding and help. At any time I could write to them by e-mail and get an answer in the shortest possible time. The learning process was interesting and had many interactive elements, including group projects, city tours, and creative tasks. After my last lesson, I was so overwhelmed with emotions of gratitude for the opportunity to study at the University of Ostrava that I couldn't hold back my tears.

I made new friends, learned a lot, gained experience communicating and studying with people from all over the world, and I can't help but smile when I remember my time at OSU.

I really enjoyed to be here!
