Have you ever wanted to be in a fairytale? To be a princess in a castle in a cute and colorful village where everybody sings to you?
That's how Óbidos looks like. It's a very small village in Portugal, surronded by a Castle's rock wall. All houses in the village are small and white, with wooden ceiling and blue or yellow paintings in the details. It's also a very flowered town, and people there are very welcoming.
Once you're there you'll feel like home, but in a medieval world. Walk the whole city until the castle (which is now a small Hotel) while enjoying the little stores, and cute scenarios.
You can also climb the city walls and see everything from top while admiring the sunset! Really romantic. You can find prince (or princess) charming there.
What to eat?
Óbidos also have many small restaurants serving typical portuguese food, and many bakeries where you can enjoy delicious breads and cakes.
But the most famous thing to eat or, in this case, drink in the city is Ginjinha: a liquor made of a cherry called Ginja. You can have it inside a chocolate cup by 1 euro, and it's delicious (specially in the cold, because it makes you warm).
When to go?
Óbidos is cute and friendly the hole year. It has a really warm and pleasant weather during the summer, but during december the village is adorned with Christmas decorations, and there are even some themed choirs and paredes in town at this time of the year.
I haven't been there during Christmas yet, but I sure want to! And you should too, if you happen to be in Portugal.
