What is it like to live in Nova Gorica? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

To be honest? Extremely boring. I live near Nova Gorica and you have absolutely nothing to do there, especially if you are a student and you want to see things and have some fun. I would not recommend it. The city is small, the nature is beautiful, but regarding things to see and do, there is almost nothing.

What is the student lifestyle like in Nova Gorica?

Like I said before, boring. You have a small number of restaurants where you can eat and absolutely nothing to do during the day or night at least for students. Again, I would not recommend it.

How much does it cost to live in Nova Gorica?

Not much, around 200 - 300 €, depending on where you live, the prices of food and clothes are also not high.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Nova Gorica? Is there any advice you can give?

There are some flats you can rent or you can live in a dorm, but from what I have heard is that dorms are not easy to get in and also there are not a lot of flats to rent. I guess it's a bit harder to find accomodation here than in bigger cities.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is okay, my favourite food in Gorica is the Pizza from a restaurant 15 minutes from centre by walking.

What places would you recommend visiting in Nova Gorica?

I would recommend a walk through Panovec forest and Kapela (a small church in a hill, where there is an amazing view of Gorica) also, if you like hiking, there are Kekec and Škabrijel (2 hills). There are a lot of better places outside of Gorica, but you can visit them easily. There is a hill called Sveta Gora, perfect for a afternoon walk, Sabotin, you have Goriška Brda (vineyards), Soča River, Cerje (there are a lot of hills :D).

Is it good to eat out in Nova Gorica? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, it is not bad, but there are not a lot of restaurants and spots to eat. My favourite spot isHitri Miki (there are pizza, pasta, gnocchi and other similar dishes) and also there are good Kebabs in Nova Gorica.

Is the nightlife good in Nova Gorica? Where is good to go?

NO. There is absolutely nowhere to go, except for a drink, and only at weekends, because the bars are open for a little bit more (till 00.00 or 02.00), but regarding party or anything similar; there is nothing.

What advice would you give future students heading to Nova Gorica?

If you can pick another city, do it. It would be a better experience and more lively. You can come to Gorica for 2 or 3 days and see the best sights and spots, also go walking in italian small streets... but if you want a student experience, go somewhere else.
