What is it like to live in Niš? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Niš is a great city for everyone. Whether you like to party, visit museums, enjoy the beautiful nature or meet new people, Niš has it all

What is the student lifestyle like in Niš?

It is very diverse. You have clubs working everyday with different styles of music. There are a lot of student organizations which make many events throughout the year. People are quite friendly especially to foreign students, you will make friends just by getting out of your house. And don't be surprised when a Serbian casually ask you on a coffee, it can last for 2 hours

How much does it cost to live in Niš?

Living in Niš is pretty cheap. Fast food is from 0.5-4€ depending on what you want, coffee in bars is 1€, beer is from 1,5-3€ in clubs also. You can get monthly bus ticket for 15€. On average you will manage with just 200€ for food and everyday partying

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Niš? Is there any advice you can give?

Not at all, you have many apartments to find for renting and the prices can go from 125-200€, depending on the location(with expenses) . But you can get anywhere by foot for 20 minutes

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Our food is simular to the food of other Balkan countries. People say we have big portions and some food can be heavy for the stomach. You must try burek, sarme, musaka, pasulj and rakija is a must try for sure

What places would you recommend visiting in Niš?

Definitely the fortress first. After that you must visit all of the monuments first Čegar and then Ćele kula(skull tower), concentration camp Red cross and after that Bubanj. All of the places have their stories. For beautiful landscape don't miss Jelašnica,  Sićevačka gorge, Niška spa too. 

Is it good to eat out in Niš? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Restaurants aren't expensive so i definitely recommend visiting them. You also have to visit kafana a mix of folk music, great atmosphere and great food. We have a saying "go to kafana alone and come out with a best man(bridesman)

Is the nightlife good in Niš? Where is good to go?

Nightlife is always interesting because any day you go out some club will be open. Depending on which music you like here are some suggestions :
Rock: Sunset, Saloon, many beer pubs (beer garden, berta)
Techno- Liv, Hub pub, Klinika
Mainstream : Club 2, Taboo, Troy, Manila, Process
And regular cafe bars have live music on weekends too

What advice would you give future students heading to Niš?

When you come here you will fall in love with the city vibe, friendly people, beautiful nature and will leave with amazing experiences and memories.
