Cappadocia the heart of Anatolia
Cappadocia is an important tourist area in the center of Anatolia in Turkey, famous for its natural landscapes and unique areas, with cities, cave churches and rock-carved houses. The main reason for Cappadocia's fame is its unique geography. Soon the city became one of the important Christian shelters, containing the churches built in the caves for those Christians who were trying to hide from the oppressors. This place is not only an important historical place, but it is also one of the most interesting geographical areas around the world.
Cappadocia located on a high plateau to about more than 1000 meters in height, which was penetrated by the volcanic peaks. The historical boundaries of Cappadocia are vague, especially towards the west. To the south, and form its border with the Taurus mountains with separate Kalykia and Cappadocia from the Mediterranean Sea. To the west, Cappadocia is built from the historical areas of Yekonia to the southwest, and Galatia to the northwest. There are black coastal sea ranges of Cappadocia separated from Puntos and the Black Sea, while eastern Cappadocia is bordered by the Upper Euphrates, before the bends of this river to the southeast to pour into Mesopotamia and the Armenian highlands. Resulting in this area extending in approximately 400 km from east to west and 250 km from north to south. Due to its inland location and high altitude, Cappadocia is influenced by continental climate, with dry summer heat and cold snowy winter. Rainfall rarely occurs, while the area is almost semi-arid.
The tourist areas of Cappadocia include 4 cities: Nevsehir, Kayseri, Aksaray and Nigda. The south-western area of the main city of Kayseri is located, with its own airlines and rail service to Ankara, Istanbul and other cities. The most important cities and destinations in Cappadocia are Uruguay, Goreme, Ihlara Valley, Selime, Guzelyurt, Uchisar, Avanos and Zulfi. Among the underground cities worth seeing are Derinkuyu, Kaymakli, Gaziemir and Ozkonak. The best historical palaces and houses for tourist stays are in Urgup, Goreme, Guzelyurt and Uchisar. Cappadocia is very popular with the hot air ballooning and the pleasure it offers at Goreme. There are interesting excursions such as excursions in Ihlara Valley, Guzelyurt Valley, Urgup and Goreme.
Sedimentary rocks were formed in the lakes and streams that erupted from the ancient volcanoes from about 9 to 3 million years ago, in the late Miocene era to the modern era, which lies behind the area of Cappadocia. The erosion of the Cappadocia rocks near Goreme is due to the hundreds of magnificent columns and the minaret-like forms. There are areas carved in the heart of the Cappadocia area on houses, churches and monasteries thanks to the soft rocks of the volcanic deposits. Gorem became the monastic center in the year 300-1200 AD.
You can easily travel to Cappadocia by bus anywhere in Turkey, especially from Istanbul, Izmir, Pamukkale and Ankara.
Some of the main activities in Cappadocia, including historic areas and cave churches with many monasteries (especially the valley of Goreme and the Zellivi valley) can be practiced, the hot air balloon is celebrated at dawn and the view from the city is spectacular in an incredible sight, Volcanic valleys (especially the Rose Valley), spend the night in a comfortable hotel room in a cave with all modern amenities.
