Why did you choose to go to Narvik, Norway?

Narvik was my second option and I chose it because Narvik is a different town where people travel normally.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My scholarship was for 6 months and the money I received was about 400 euros each month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Narvik?

There are classes in the morning and afternoon, it depends of your timetable.

Normally, students go to university in the morning and they study at the library later, in the afternoon.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Narvik to other students?

Of course!

Narvik is not the typical city where students travel to be partying all the time. It has its own charm and is pretty quiet. There are also parties of course.

What is the food like?

Mostly... frozen pizza and mexican food. Norway is one of the countries that eat more frozen pizza.

If you like fishing, you can go to the sea and get your own food.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Narvik?

My accommodation costs 450 euros/month, all included (light, water, gas, internet... ).

How much does it cost to live in Narvik?

It is expensive if you compare it with the Spanish standards.

You'll have to be careful with the money if you do not want to end up broke.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available in the University?

You have a Norwegian course available but the course is over one year.

The other option is speaking in English. There is no problem and everyone understands you.

I think that they always watch tv in original version (English) with subtitles (Norwegian).

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Narvik from your city?

The most econimical way is by plane.... www.norwegian.com is your web.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Narvik?

There aren't many places where you can go.

Sometimes people go to the pub but the most common option is staying in and partying in your house or your friend's house... it's cheaper.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Narvik?

You have the same problem with restaurants.

There are some restaurants in Narvik but eating out is very expensive.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Narvik was an important place in World War II so there are some sculptures and a museum dedicated to it.

Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Narvik?

Bring warm clothes.

If you come in winter, do not get depressed about not seeing the sun all day.

If you come in Summer, do not get depressed at not being able to sleep because you get the sun in your face all day because there are no blinds.

If you can, you should travel around the country, the landscape is spectacular and it's worth seeing the fjords.
