What is it like to live in Mysore? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Mysore is one of the best Indian cities to live in, whether you are a student or a working professional. It has the calmness of towns and the ease of life of big cities. People are extremely hospitable and helpful. The city has a great transport system, and all parts of the city are interconnected. Overall, Mysore provides a fantastic living experience to all.

What is the student lifestyle like in Mysore?

Well, mostly, it depends on the college the student attends, but, as mentioned before, Mysore is a great place for a student to be. Considered the educational hub of Karnataka, Mysore has some of the best colleges, in addition to its university, and some of the best educators and researchers in the country. In other words, it is a student's haven.

How much does it cost to live in Mysore?

Cost of living is reasonable, never reaching the levels of big cities. Therefore, anybody would feel comfortable living in Mysore. Transport and food prices are highly reasonable, compared with those of other cities.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Mysore? Is there any advice you can give?

No, it is not. Usually, colleges provide accommodation facilities, which are generally comfortable. However, if students are not comfortable with college accommodation, there are numerous other hostels and paying guest facilities available at very reasonable rates.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Mysore offers some of the best Indian sweets. There are numerous restaurants that serve typical Karnataka-style food, though there are many Kerala-style, North Indian, Chinese, Italian, and Continental restaurants in Mysore.

What places would you recommend visiting in Mysore?

The first place to visit would be the Mysore Palace. It has so much beauty and history, that it is a must-visit spot. Others include St. Philomena's Church, Mysore Zoo, Karanji Lake, KRS Dam, Chamundi Hill, and so on.

Is it good to eat out in Mysore? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

There are fantastic spots to eat outside in Mysore. Some of them are Nanking, Onesta, Oyster Bay, Barbecue Nation, and Old House.

Is the nightlife good in Mysore? Where is good to go?

I'm not so sure about that, because I am not a night-life kind of person, but I'm sure there are many pubs and clubs.

What advice would you give future students heading to Mysore?

It's a great place to study in. People are friendly and helpful. Food is okay. Transport is great. Prices are reasonable. Apt for people who detest the nauseating suffocation of big cities.
