New Year in Milan

Hello, everyone!
I'm having my exchange semester in Vienna right now but my friend and I decided to go Italy ( 30th of December - 8th January ) with the depatrure in Milan.
Any recomentdations about spending New Year night in Milan and some mountains with the opportunity to spend 1-2 days nearby?
