#2 Visiting Metz - Where to have a drink?
Hello everyone, today is the next installment in my ‘guide’ to Metz. Last time, I talked to you about some historical and cultural places of interest, and now, we’re going to talk about some places where you can enjoy a drink with friends!

Bars and Pubs
It’s worth knowing that there are several places to enjoy a drink with friends in Metz. It’s possible to move from bar to bar, so I’m going to tell you about a few different places where you can relax with a drink!
Rue du Pont des Morts, more commonly known as “La Rue des Kebabs” (Kebab Road)
Rue du Pont des Morts is located between Île du Saulcy, where there is the student campus, and Moyen-Pont. It’s called “La Rue des Kebabs” because there are lots of kebab shops there. If you study in Saulcy, it’s one of the closest places nearby to relax after lectures.
You’ll find bars like Troubadour (at the end of the street, on Rue du Pont des Morts) and the first bar on the street, La Moselle, that serves mojitos for €4 and sangria for €3!

Place Saint Jacques
If you visit Metz, you will inevitably pass through or next to Place Saint Jacques, as it’s located in the middle of everything. There are several bars, creperies, ice cream parlours, and restaurants here, and you can enjoy a drink on the terrace when the weather is nice. The place fills up pretty quickly when the weather is good…
You’ll find bars like View and Pop White, and many more. You need to go there to see just how many!

Place Saint Louis
If you like pubs, then Place Saint Louis is unmissable! Under the arches, there are lots of places to drink with your friends, both indoors and outdoors.
-
Vivian's: you can grab a bit to eat here, like pizza
-
Le Paraège: not bad for a drink with friends
-
Irish Pub: I don’t go there personally, because I prefer the others, but I have heard lots of good things about it
-
Le 47, etc
Don't hesitate to discover them for yourself!

Special Mentions
The Latin bar is a bit different. You can drink, eat, and dance there. If you’re going out in a group, why not try it?
Eurofoot Cafe is a place where you can drink and watch football at the same time!
Soft Drinks
Alcohol not your cup of tea? Do you prefer a coffee or a sugary drink? Of course, all the places that I’ve already mentioned serve soft drinks if you prefer, but if you’re after something a bit different from your classic Coca Cola, I haven’t forgotten you and can recommend some nice places to go to!
TooGoo
TooGoo offers sweet and healthy fruit juice! It’s a little bit expensive, but it’s nice! You can drink on the terrace, even if it’s a bit small, or you can sit inside. The place is quite small inside, but there’s still enough space if you’re in a small group.
You'll find smoothies, chai lattes, cocktails, and bubble teas, and more! If you're feeling peckish, they also serve sandwiches.
The Galeries Lafayette Tearooms
It’s rather expensive here but it’s quite quiet and there’s also an outside area upstairs which can be nice when the weather is good!
It's located on the top floor of the department store.
French Coffee Shop
I like going here from time to time to have bubble tea, sugary coffee, chocolatey drinks, and all types of things! It’s very comfortable and friendly inside but it’s quite pricey! There’s also an outdoor terrace.
It's located in Place Saint Louis.
Coffeeserie
A really nice place to drink tea and eat a pastry, it’s pricey but I find that it’s worth it! It’s a small tearoom and it gets full quite quickly, so don’t be disheartened if you see lots of people there.

Night Clubs
I have to admit that the nightlife in Metz is far from lively! I recommend you go to your friends’ houses at night. However, if you really want to go clubbing, you can try Klubb or even Les Loges! I won’t say that they’re the best, but there you go. There’s also Le Privé: it used to have a good reputation, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore, and it’s quite expensive.
That’s the end of this article on pubs and bars in Metz! Of course, this isn’t an exhaustive list and I want to add that I don’t really have a strong opinion about any of these places, but I like to go them with my friends when we fancy it.
I hope that you enjoyed this article. If you did, check out my previous article about historical places of interest in the city, or the next article, which will talk about where to eat out in Metz!
