18 year old girl looking for accommodation or flatmate in 2015 - pet friendly?

Planning on attending Melbourne University next year, I currently live in Newcastle so naturally I'll be moving to the city. I am moving alone (hopefully with my dog if possible) so I won't know anyone. If anyone is in a similar circumstance and is moving in 2015- let me know! It'd be great to find a roommate or even a familiar face in a new town.
I'll be 18, very much into music, writing, painting, acting etc. I'll be studying psychology/criminology.
