Matosinhos is known for its rich culture and cuisine.
Represents the true culture of fish and the north sea. It is very well known by surf culture, since there is a huge seawall along the beach where there are plenty of surf schools. In addition Matosinhos is a city of sport and wellness. The Seawall Beach is constantly full of people always playing sports or running or skateboarding, or rollerblading, or bycicle.
Matosinhos also has one of the largest parks in the country. With a large park, located by the sea with excellent cuisine this city guarantees an enviable lifestyle for anyone!

What is the student lifestyle like in Matosinhos?

In Matosinhos isn't a very student culture city, since most colleges are located in the city of Oporto. But with the ease of public transport such as metro and buses is very easy to reach the city center quickly. In contrast Matosinhos has everything! Several supermarkets, cafes,malls, bars, bakeries, library, clothing stores, public transportation, many restaurants ..... all with easy walking access.

The food is the best thing you gonna find in Matosinhos. Being a city by the sea, there are major streets with fish restaurants, where we can see the fish on the street being roasted over coals! Always recommend any type of shellfish, sardines and cod, are the best dishes of the cuisine of Matosinhos.

What places would you recommend visiting in Matosinhos?

It is worth visiting the city park, transparent building which is a building located right on the beach with a number of snack bars, and of course ... THE BEACH!!

Is it good to eat out in Matosinhos? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Eating in Matosinhos is one of the best things you can do in this city, its not very expensive and you have fish on your dish which was fished a few hours ago. I love a restaurant named " Marujo" its very tradicional and for a snack "tira linhas" on Transparent building.

Is the nightlife good in Matosinhos? Where is good to go?

There are no huge places to go clubbing in Matosinhos, but it is very nice to go for a drink or an ice cream in the cafes by the sea. There are some cafes located right on the sand, one of the most popular is called "lais de guia".

What advice would you give future students heading to Matosinhos?

Any student will love Matosinhos, because from any public transport you get near college or nightlife, located in the center of Porto and you can, at any time of the all year to hit the streets and go see and smell the sea, always with an enviable cuisine and warm people.
