Erasmus Experience in Maia, Portugal by Catarina

Why did you choose to go to Maia, Portugal?

I live in Porto. I usually don't go to Maia, just if I have to. Anyway, I'll give some informations that can help some students. I hope!

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My college was in Porto and I made Erasmus into the Netherlands 4 months. I received by the college a scholarship of 1200€ (300€ each month).

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I'm portuguese, but I must notify you that portuguese is a difficult language for almost everybody, just easier for spanish and italian people. Anyway, you can learn it if you want. Most of all, you can speak english to live in Maia with people around you. I hope!

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Maia in the future?

All that informations (travel, eat, night, cultural,..) the students can search by internet: TripAdvisor, Facebook, Google, ... It will help if they can choose where, how, what,... between all the informations.
All of that you can find at Maia and also at Porto, further but bigger city, so it has much more of everything (Maia also has public transports to Porto center for visiting days and funny nights).
