What was the city like to live in? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It has been 4 years since I studied in Louvain-la-Neuve, this city is perfect for a student. It is made up of more or less 80% students, it is a pedestrian city and all the shops, bars, shopping centres, restaurants, gyms, etc., are a maximum of 10 minutes walking depending on where you live.

There are enormous parties every night, Belgians know how to party.

Even though the Belgian climate isn't the best and there isn't that much scenery to see, I recommend this city 200%.

What is the cost of living in Louvain-la-Neuve?

Normal standard of living in Europe with some special discounts for students: cinema €7 (€5 on Mondays), basic sandwich €2. 70, bread €2. 30, beer €1, beer in bars €1. 80.

Is it difficult to find housing in Louvain-la-Neuve? Do you have any advice to give?

There is huge demand for housing but if you actively search and visit there is always a way to find some. The price varies from €270-350 a month for basic accommodation (although it can rise up to €600 a month depending on the student accommodation and situation).

What is the food like in the city? What are your favourite meals?

Very good food, there is something for all tastes (Asian, Thai, Moroccan, Sushi restaurants... ).

What places would you recommend visiting in Louvain-la-Neuve?

Blocry sports centre, the lake, Hergé museum, Aula Magna, the town square...

There aren't a lot of things to visit in Belgium when you compare it with countries like Spain, Italy etc, but regarding students, there is no city that competes with Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgian are without a doubt the best party animals that exist.
