What is it like to live in Louvain-la-Neuve? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I strongly recommand LLN! Not because of the weather or the architecture (wich are not really interesting), but for student life! LLN is a town made and built for the students! There is everything for us there!

What is the student lifestyle like in Louvain-la-Neuve?

the student lifestyle is total on LLN. Students represent more than the half of the population... Every night, every day, the students organize something for the other students (parties, public debates, concerts, play... ). There is a system in LLN; some housing of students have a "project" which is the creation of some events. There is no night without something to do!

How much does it cost to live in Louvain-la-Neuve?

Belgium is cheaper than most of western european countries (UK, Ireland, France... ). A beer costs 1 or 2 euro in a student event, 2 or 4 euros in a bar, an hamburger costs 5, etc... About accommodation, a "kot" (a room in a shared appartement) costs between 300 and 380 euros.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Louvain-la-Neuve? Is there any advice you can give?

It's not difficult, you just have to sign you up to uclogement before august, they will give you a "kot" (a room in a shared appartement) for 300 or 350 euros... if you want a private "kot", it's more expensive (400-460) but it's often more comfortable (sometimes it's egual).

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

If you don't like fries and beer, well... You are screwed.

What places would you recommend visiting in Louvain-la-Neuve?

Musée hergé, Les Lundis de la Guitare, La Casa, Les Match de l'improkot, Musée L, La Barraque.

Is it good to eat out in Louvain-la-Neuve? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Not really, but some restaurant are good... The Butcher, Empreintes Nomades, Le Respect-Table.

Is the nightlife good in Louvain-la-Neuve? Where is good to go?

Nightlife is awesome! It's totally the best point to come in LLN! Every single night there is something organized by the students for the students (concert, parties, conferences, festivals, play).

What advice would you give future students heading to Louvain-la-Neuve?

Open your mind, don't be afraid to party anywhere, prepare yourself to have short nights, appreciate beer, "no you're not that drunk".
