What is it like to live in Loughborough? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Firstly Loughborough is a town. It is mostly quiet with a few exceptions. There really is not much here, however it is a perfect spot to venture around England. It's right bang in the centre of 3 key cities (Leicester, Nottingham and Derby) about an hour from each by bus. It's not a bad place to live, nothing special though.

What is the student lifestyle like in Loughborough?

The students are the blood of Loughborough, they bring money and life in. Although they can tend to piss off the locals. Without them this town would be dead and allot more penniless. I would say the overall lifestyle of the students is good, however I've heard a lot of them get bored here.

How much does it cost to live in Loughborough?

Like most of England, it's expensive when compared to the rest of of Europe. However unlike London in Loughborough we won't charge £ 6. 50 for an Cheese and Tomato sandwich. Housing costs I think are fairly average. Although it wouldn't surprise me if landlords raise prices on houses near the uni. I'm afraid the smell of your hard earned money makes them greedy.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Loughborough? Is there any advice you can give?

I'm afraid my knowledge on student accommodation is very limited. The Uni offers a huge site. And there is a huge district of houses dedicated to students. I would assume it's fairly easy to find a place, they always seem to be building flats for you!

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

This is England, the food is boring. I'm allowed to say that because I'm English. I love flavor and good food that's why my partner is Mexican.

What places would you recommend visiting in Loughborough?

Well, Queens Park is a nice place to relax and chill with friends on a nice sunny day (we don't have many). You have the GCR (Great central railway) if you like historic places, and trains. Other than that I would tell you to venture out of Loughborough if you have the chance. Bus services are really good, 24/7 buses to Leicester and Derby (Skylink).

Is it good to eat out in Loughborough? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

There are a few decent places like the 108 World Buffet, Pizza Hut, those kind of boring same old same old places. There is a really nice Middle Eastern restaurant in the town, not hard to miss. Really stands out (Sorry can't remember the name. )

Is the nightlife good in Loughborough? Where is good to go?

Unless the students are here it's boring, and when they're here they find it boring. Echoes on a Saturday is fun, bit of a dump the music is OK and if you're drunk you can have a good time with your friends and maybe make new ones. PS: Don't wear good shoes! My favourite is the Students Union, 2 floors big area cleaner than Echoes and full of life. Although a double the entry fee of Echoes (£10).

What advice would you give future students heading to Loughborough?

Have fun, conserve your money and mind the locals, some can bite; oh and if one calls you "duck" just smile, believe me, it's not an insult.
