The beginning-nothing special

I always had some difficult parents but now I survived everything and manage to take a scholarship with Erasmus (thank God) and finally leaving my nest for the unknown.

To being, I'm a student at textile and design department in Bucharest at the National University of Arts in my dear and beloved country, Romania (don't worry, I wasn’t so patriotic in the beginning). The destination was: Ljubljana, Slovenia, department of textile arts and design.

After a long search for the tickets and accommodation I left on 20thof February led to the airport by the 3 roommates of mine (I don’t know if I will be able to return such a kind gesture). I was a little scared in the airplane all by myself but I landed in the morning in Venice and after 12 o clock I catch the bus for Ljubljana. I arrived at the All Season Hostel (an hostel that I recommend with my hand on my heart) late in the evening. By the way don’t take a taxi instantly as you step on foreign land (been there done that kind of story) cause it may cost you a lot of money that to be honest you will need in the future.

At the hostel I received a bike which will become my partner in crime, through thick and thin as they say. I will leave here a photo of it. Everyone was so kind with me not only on that day, but throughout the entire stay in the hostel.  All I know is that the next day I was right on that bike roaming around the city to buy stuff and visit, but not the entire city because I thought like this: the city is small so I will visit a little bit at a time so in the end to visit everything but in 2 moths not 2 days. And it worked. Better quality rather than quantity. Maybe that’s why I visited other countries in the meantime, to leave unknown places to visit in the capital as many as I can (stupid artist mind of mine).

In the end other that the transition from plastic money to euro and seeing that the food is more expensive than the groceries in my country, changing the hour and realising that I will see the mesemerizing Alps for the next 4 months, all I did was sleep like a sloth (I'll attach a photo of me barely holding my eyes open after the first day), in the beginning.

Next story: First trip around Ljubljana and dealing with documents.

If you have burning questions about accommodation, transport or details don't hesitate to contact me as I will cover all of the details trough my blog.
