Living in Latina in Italy by Federico

How does life seem to you in Latina? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I live in Latina since I was born, about 20 years ago. This is a very special city, it has little to share to an Erasmus student. It counts about 125, 000 people and is located 20 minutes from the sea and 25 minutes from the mountain. In Latina there are 3 Faculties (Economics, Medicine and Engineering) linked to the Sapienza University of Rome.

Being in a city with little tourism has limited opportunities for leisure.

How is the student environment in Latina?

The student environment is the classic small town. There are about 6 thousand subscribers in Latina, counting all 3 existing faculties.

How much does it cost to live in Latina?

Less northern and more southern. The cost of living is not excessive.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Latina? Can you give any advice on this?

It is not very complicated. You can find an apartment in the centre for 450/500 € without much effort. Logically, the more you are at home, the less you will pay monthly.

What is the local food like? What are your favorite dishes?

Most of the most famous Italian foods can be found. There are also many fast foods places.

The typical dishes are those of the Venetian origin.

What is the Latina nightlife like? Where do you recommend going out?

The pub street is liveable especially on Friday and Saturday evenings from 10:30 to 01:30. Then you go to club.

During the summer there are many open-air clubs along the beach.

Do you have any advice for future Latina students?

Latina is not a city where you can spend 5 or 9 months for Erasmus. It offers realistically little. It is not very far from Rome by taking the train, but that of the scope is a terrible life.
