Is Las Palmas de Gran Canaria a safe city?
It's very safe. I have lived in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for my whole life, and I've been to every single part of the island. Like in other countries across the world, things happen that are then published and generalised in the news. There are some areas that are more troublesome than others. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is a very safe city whose inhabitants are polite and know how to behave in a civilised manner. The streets are like those of any developed city in the world. Like in any place, if you don't cause problems with other people, and you don't put yourself in any dangerous situations, you have no reason to worry. During any event that happens on the island, there are always police on the streets controlling the area. If there is ever a problem that puts you in harms way, go directly to the police. At the end of this post I will write down the important emergency numbers that you can call, but as I said, I have lived here all my life and I have never had any problem on the streets, neither day nor night, so you can relax when it comes to security. We're going to treat you very well here.
