What is it like to live in Lahore? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Being from Lahore myself, I might as well be a little biased. I love the city. The culture and customs are rich, the food is great and there is also a saying in Punjabi; "The one who hasn't seen Lahore hasn't been born yet". Be it fashion,food or entertainment, Lahore gives you all.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lahore?

Students in Lahore have a blast. The student life is amazing as the universities themselves organize many events and the students are extremely warm and friendly. Lahoris are generally warm people and welcome everyone with open arms. For students, there is a lot of convenience as almost everyone in the city speaks and understands English. If you are buying something from local street shops you may even bargain prices. You shall find brands ranging from the lowest to the highest of prices. Uber and Careem services are really into the student life now and are pretty reliable. Still it's better to travel with a friend and not alone.

How much does it cost to live in Lahore?

The idea of part time jobs has never really occurred to me as a student in Lahore since I live with my parents and they basically pay for everything. But for an international student it shall be relatively considered cheap because once they convert their money (euros,liras,dollars,pounds) to the rupee, they'll be ok. In the first months ofcourse there are a lot of expenses but with time you'll learn.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Lahore? Is there any advice you can give?

There are on campus accommodations provided by universities so it won't be much of a problem.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is heavenly. We love spicy food. We have restaurants where Italian,French,Chinese,Thai and now even Turkish dishes are served. But if you are a foreigner, try the traditional dishes like Biryani,Handi,Karahi,tandoori ki roti,parathas everything. While you are there, do try the famous Chaman Ice cream.

Is it good to eat out in Lahore? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes!! Its amazing. Sweet Affairs, DeSOM Services club,the poet,Haveli,Aylanto,Mocca,The Brasserie there are a lot of places!!

Is the nightlife good in Lahore? Where is good to go?

There are parties at the farm houses located in Bedian/Barki and Paragon. But you can only go to them if you have been invited or if it's some friend who is going so you may tag along.

What advice would you give future students heading to Lahore?

Have fun!! But be careful too!!!
Always be careful with your purses specially in areas like Liberty. There aren't a lot of cases of theft but always be 2 steps ahead and careful!
