What is it like to live in Kottayam? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

As I am a native of this place (but in another area), I am ok with the life here. If you are a person who likes life in apartments rather than villages, you will adjust to this place. Traffic and pollution is heavy in busy timings.

What is the student lifestyle like in Kottayam?

As there are plenty of educational institutions in the city, resources related to academics are readily available. Even if you are a new-comer, everything from restaurants to groceries are a lot. Transport facilities are also above average.

How much does it cost to live in Kottayam?

Mostly average or below average compared to other cities in India, particularly in kerala state.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Kottayam? Is there any advice you can give?

It is not at all difficult. But student accommodations are not less because most of the students here are natives. Apartments are available, but I dont have much idea about the prices.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Most of the restaurants serve only Indian food, especially south Indian. There are a few places which provide chinese and foreign food, situated in the city itself. But they might be costly. I usually prefer south indian dishes and fast food.

What places would you recommend visiting in Kottayam?

Most of the places with attraction are outside the city and I dont have great idea.

Is the nightlife good in Kottayam? Where is good to go?

Sadly, night life and related programs are not active here and the city sleeps usually by 10 at night. Its better not to get out at night especially for women as it is not safe.
