One of the premier engineering institutes called Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in India is located in Kharagpur, India. If you are getting an involvement (i.e. studentship or job ship) permanent or temporary with this IIT, then IIT Kharagpur will provides you a pleasant living life to spend in here. As per as city is concerned, it is a remore city (120KM from Kolkata). However, Kharagpur is well connected with Other parts of India through railways and bus ways, to catch a flight one has to move to Kolkata.

What is the student lifestyle like in Kharagpur?

Student lifestyle is awesome at IIT Kharagpur. 24 hours open library, open laboratory, gym, play grounds, 6 restaurants inside the campus. campus spans over more 200 acres of land, well furnished residential hostels and the whole campus is Wi-Fi enable.

How much does it cost to live in Kharagpur?

Rs. 3000/- (INR) would get you a sufficiently great life style.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Kharagpur? Is there any advice you can give?

If you are a student, or in an internship, or a temporary or permanent employee at IIT Kharagpur, then IIT will provide you an accommodation. Other than that, nearby private residential complex and house honours are available that may be considered to stay as well, if you are allowed to stay outside.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

every food item is more or less having Indian taste, more like Bengali style.

What places would you recommend visiting in Kharagpur?

Shalboni, Jhargram, Digha, Kolkata

Is it good to eat out in Kharagpur? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Mostly not, but good hotel in outside Kharagpur will certainly be good. My favourite spot is Digha, almost 60KM from Kharagpur.

Is the nightlife good in Kharagpur? Where is good to go?

Because Kharagpur is a remote city, people near kharagpur more like villagers. Therefore, they do not have night life as such.

What advice would you give future students heading to Kharagpur?

Educationally it is great, lifestyle inside campus is very good. So let your life have a part in Kharagpur
