Cappadocia :
Home to various civilizations, Cappadocia means the ‘land of beautiful horses’ in Persian. The rooted history and captivating atmosphere of this geography makes you feel like you’re in a fairytale.
With its unique fairy chimneys, cultural values and entertainment venues, Cappadocia is one of Turkey’s most powerful tourism regions.Furthermore, it has been a UNESCO World Heritage since 1985.The mysterious fairy chimneys are the first things to come to mind when Cappadocia is mentioned. The formation of this region is extremely interesting.
The region is surrounded by volcanic mountains like Erciyes, Hasan and Melendiz.Ten million years ago, there were explosions in these the region called Cappadocia was covered with layers of lava and ash. The top of the cooled tuff layer was covered in places with a layer other than hard basalt. This layer was separated into pieces by the wind and water and cones from basalt rock were formed. The name ‘Katpaduka’was given to the region during the Persian Empire. Horses were trained for the army here. That’s why it’s said that thename of the region means ‘land of beautiful horses’.
