If you are in Erasmus in Jena and it's also a sunny warm day.. why not joining germans in one of their favourite activities? I'm thinking of 'wandern' (and beer drinking also ;) )
The good thing of the city of Jena is its position: Jena is in the middle of the Thuringen Wald and nature there is still everywhere. If you want to go away for a while from the chaos of the city, you may enjoy a walk to some beutiful places right in Jena.
These are the most attractive routes:
Fuchsturm: situated in Jena Ost, is pretty easy to reach. You can even decide to follow two different kind of paths - easy or difficult. You can also enter the tower and go to the top of it. Downstairs there is a bar where you can rest and drink or eat something.
Jenzig: it's the highest mountain in Jena, it takes long to get there, but it's wrth to ;) From Jenzig you will see the whole city and the woods. Once you get there, you'll feel like you've just conquered the world!
Very interesting from the hystory of Jena are the so called 7 Wonders: the tower and the mount Jenzig are 2 of them. That's why they are a must for everyone visiting the small romantic Jena.
Napoleonstein: another must-stop in Jena. Here you'll find out something about history and Napoleon. Very easy path, adviced for a relaxing sunday afternoon.
Another path leads to a very charming place in Jena. Following the path onto the woods you can even reach the Forst Sternwarte: here you have to chance to get deeper in astronomy and admire the moon in the darness of the night.
You can find other interesting ways starting in Lobeda or a bit outside Jena, like in Dornburg, where you can also visit some renaissance castles.
Don't waste the chance to experience Germany's nature, it's something unique!
